Hello friends… This is in continuation to my previous posts and here I’m sharing the cruise preparation based on my recent cruise ship vacation.
The vacation was simply fantastic and there’s so much I want to talk about this vacation that I decided to divide my experience into several stories, each covering a different topic for a cruise vacation.
In this story I wanted to talk about what preparation we did (well most of it was done by my wife and kids to be honest :).
Well there were no restrictions on the luggage as compared to a flight. And that means you can pack stuff to your hearts content. Since this vacation was going to have many water sports related activities, I ordered following swimming trunk from Amazon. In addition we ordered lots of sun screens, couple of hats, extra pair of sun glasses etc.
Be prepared for he formal night dinners on the cruise
Yes, indeed this vacation is very similar to a beach vacation, but its more like staying on a massive multi stoty floating hotel. And there are nights where you are expected to be dressed to kill in formal. You can beat 007 if you like so :). Another reason to be dressed formal is that usually there are formal picture opportunities on these nights, and you can get a pretty nice formal family pics clicked.
Be prepared for motion sickness and drowsiness
In our seven days cruise, the first 5 days were perfectly okay and we didn’t feel a bit of movement. Well I mean nothing was uncomfortable 🙂 as compared to what we were expecting. But on the fifth day the ship was rocking a lot and we felt some motion sickness, and that’s when dramamine tablets came to our rescue. We bought following for the motion sickness.
And for kids we ordered the motion sickness bands which are pretty harmless, and suggested to make kids wear them from the day one on the ship.https://amzn.to/39Qqi0U
Communication between your family members and friends
Although the ship we went to was a medallion class, where we were given trackers and an app to track our family members and friends, the following walki talki came very handy and kind of a must have for any cruise travel
Max out the bottle of wines to take onboard based on your group
Every cruise has a different limit on the number of wine bottles per person you can take onboard. In our ship they allowed one per person. One smart thing you can do is find out who in your group does not drink, and you can use that person’s quota to carry an additional bottle :). Perhaps its not a big deal, but for people like us who like drinks, every bottle counts 🙂
For now I’ll stop here but I’ll continue sharing my experiences in several stories in next few days and hope this helps our readers.
